LONDON – Two suspects have been arrested following a serious UK train stabbing on Sunday, the British Transport Police (BTP) has confirmed. The violent assault took place on a train service in the Huntingdon area, prompting a major emergency response.
Emergency services met the train at the station, and the suspects were detained shortly afterward. The BTP moved quickly to address public concern regarding the motive of the attack.
In an official statement, a spokesperson for the force explicitly stated that the Huntingdon incident is not being treated as terror-related. "We can confirm that two people have been arrested... This incident is not currently being treated as terrorism, and terrorism ruled out at this stage," the statement read.
The attack has caused significant disruption to rail services as investigators secure the scene. This event is the latest in a series of high-profile UK crime news incidents, raising concerns about passenger safety on public transport.
The BTP is appealing for any witnesses who were on board the service to come forward with information to assist with their investigation into the circumstances of the attack.
